CNC Routing & Carving

We offer custom design wood carved signs, logos, graphics or any kind of precision one-off project art works or small batch produced items like customized / personalized kitchen boards with your own design.

We have a unique workshop where we are trying to mostly utilize locally sourced wood, milled on our mobile mill, air-dried and prepared for CNC machining in our workshop. Our whole workshop including the CNC machine is completely off-grid and running on solar power only. Our goal is sustainability and clean nature friendly production. Lot of our wood is saved from being burned for house heating and given many years of future use.

Our CNC Machine

Work Area 1.4m x 1m

We can easily carve signs up to this size. Larger scale is possible as well, with some additional tilling methods.

Tools

Using different tools, like V bits, flat, round nose, bowl shape we can create a unique combination of profiles for your design.

3D Design

Using a combination of tools we can carve any custom shapes based on 3D models, this process is slower, but the possibilities are unlimited.

Materials

We can work with any kind of softwoods like Pine, hardwoods like Oak, Ash, Olive as well as Plywood, MDF or Acrylic. You can supply your own wood stock, preferably planed down.

Large scale artwork

With tilling and slicing methods we can separate the project into smaller tiles and layers and complete any design size you need.

Batch producing

Big advantage of CNC is repeatability. Once you are happy with your design we can batch produce as many copies as you need, wasting as little material as possible with some smart nesting methods.

Shapes and patterns

We can create shapes or patterns which can then be used for further production.

Fonts

You can choose any font for you design.

Design

We can design a full range of styles and combinations of V-carved, embossed raised profile, prism, cut-out or combination of other three-dimensional looks.

Finish

We supply unfinished natural wood products for you to apply your favorite finish or offer multiple different combinations of paints and surface finishings.

Eco-Friendly

Our workshop is completely off-grid running on solar power only.

Wood with a story

Tree

It all starts with a tree brought to our farm from surrounding village areas. Hopefully as soon as possible after felling, to keep it from drying on open ends and developing checks, cracks.

Wood Mill

On the wood mill it is cut to boards, we get excited about the beauty once the log is split open and then it is time for some patience.

Drying

Then it is time to find a shady place to build a stack, find or cut new spacing sticker, stack the fresh boards up, cover them and wait at least a year, before checking for humidity.

Preparing stock

Once dry enough, we look for the boards we need for given project, based on width, thickness, if we like to keep the live edge or clean them straight. First to circular or table saw, depends on warp in the boards and then to a planer. For any CNC work prepared stock needs to be perfectly flat.

CNC routing

With the computer design ready, we fix the planed stock on the CNC table, change the routing bits as needed and if all goes well there is time to work on different project or watch shapes and patterns slowly beign carved into wood.

Painting & Finishing

For signs with different color combinations this process might start before carving, when the top layer might be stained or painted to a certain color to create contrast from carved areas. Before any further paint application, all the edges are trimmed and sanded. At the end it's time for varnish or oil/wax treatment, painting letters, more sanding to clear painted edges and final surface treatment.
